What is 12A & 80G Registration?

12A registration provides income tax exemption on the NGO’s surplus income, ensuring that funds raised through donations and grants are fully utilized for charitable purposes. Section 12A has been replaced by Section 12AB since 2020, so all NGOs must re-register under 12AB to continue enjoying exemptions.

80G registration allows donors to claim a deduction on contributions made to your NGO. Depending on the organization and type of donation, donors can claim either 50% or 100% deduction, encouraging more support for your charitable activities. Together, these registrations enhance your NGO’s credibility, attract more donors, and improve opportunities for government grants and CSR funding.
